After a slight hiatus due to my health/ post hand in dip, I’ve been planning out the build for the stands that the scrolls will go on.
Measurements are:
Doomscroll 1: 40cm x 112cm x 15cm
Doomscroll 2: 150cm x 125cm x 15cm
Doomscroll 3: 90cm x 115cm x 15cm

The curves for each scroll will sit along a length of wood which will then be on two legs each side (and possibly a third in the middle). I was thinking of using screws but have landed on using dowel to make it easier to take apart and transport to London.
Also going to ask Jonathan next week if its possible for poetry reading with both me and my dad (who I’m very proud to say is a poet in the Shrewsbury/wrexham scene) that alternates talking about the mesmerisation of nature against the mesmerisation of the digital world. When the performers are scrolling on their phones, the digital verses will be read and when they are scrolling the scrolls, the nature verses will be read. This way I get my voice and my poetry into the piece, something thats been commented on many times and there is an obvious differentiator between the digital and physical scrolling (it also gives the performers a que).
I have four willing performers, one of them being tall to ensure the loooong scroll can be unscrolled with ease.
I’ve also begun the process of painting the third scroll which took me a while to get to due to a combination of procrastination and NOT WANTING THIS COURSE TO FINISH. So maybe if I didn’t have to complete stuff for the final show it wouldn’t end?
