Un-Organised Religion: Is Art Reclaiming the Sacred in Secular Culture?

After experiencing a panic attack in response to the editing of the writing process, I decided to put the theory within my research paper into practice. Can art engagement have the same benefits as ritualised practice? I used Python to count the letters in my fourth draft, and then used those letters as markings. I would stop writing and instead, repetitively mark make in ink on paper whenever intrusive thoughts began to take over. I would then, once calmer, return back to my paper. The process calmed my body, shut off my thoughts and allowed me to continue with editing. It also grounded the process of writing in the physical, reminding me what it truly was at its core, using symbols in the form of letters to communicate a message.
