Over the past few days I’ve been really focusing on different ways to represent mycelium/ the nervous system using charcoal, oil based crayon and white pastel. It took a few attempts to get there but I was happy with my final test and moved onto the canvas.

I then did something explorations of mushrooms before I paint them onto the canvas which I’m planning on doing post Interim Week so that I don’t feel rushed doing so.

I really wanted to make sure I understood the form, values and different types of mushroom before commiting to acrylic expressions. Mushrooms to me, are a little harder to approach than the birds as theres not as much variation in value so I’m heavily relying on tone to depict each mushroom.

I’m happy with where I’ve gotten to and feel confident to proceed onto the canvas to create the final piece.
