The concept of mechanical gut came from the frenzied addiction that people around me seemed to blissfully fall into with ChatGPT and other LLMs. Playing off the loss of my own gut and the both satirical yet sometimes deeply serious wonderings of whether I had lost my own ‘gut feeling’ in the process, I created mechanical gut, to signify the ways we are drawn to use technology. To replace and outsource our intuition, inner knowing and the responsibility of the consequences of following through on that knowing.

Mechanical gut is in progress, alongside other projects, currently I have the outer ‘Large intestine’ and the wires that will make up the small intestine. I aim to either create a real LLM off the back of existing ones to then hook it up to or to create a programme that mimics and satirizes our conversations or needs from these technologies.
