I visited the ‘Thread the Loom’ exhibition at the IKON gallery in Birmingham, work that not only links to my own practice but also my research paper. They not only had works from Raisa Kabir, Alis Oldfield, Bharti Parmar, Dinah Prentice and Su Richardson, but also had a weaving studio where I tried my hand on the Dobby Loom.
I spoke to one of the resident artists and weavers about her practice and how using a loom results in a reflection of the environment around her, her own emotional state at the time of weaving and how this almost feels like a stand against technology with specific mentions of AI.

I also explored ‘SPAN’ by Seulgi Lee, whos work very much reflected gallery as church, the way she combines conceptual and artisanal has shown me it is possible to hold both beautifully in one space
