I’m currently in the process of writing my study statement so thought I’d upload a rough methodology.

I’m down in London from tomorrow with an aim to join a print making workshop in the week as I would like to do some silkscreen printing for my first pice under this concept and idea I’m proposing.

I have work I’ve been doing over the past few weeks that I haven’t yet uploaded and need to get into a better rhythm of doing so, hopefully now having more of a focus of where I want to go with my work I will get into more of a rhythm with posting.

Here is my first draft of a methodology:

METHODOLOGY

My research explores the entanglement of feminine identity, capitalist extraction, and environmental depletion through a practice-based investigation. Using printmaking, installation, and digital video, I will embody the persona of ‘The Entitled Woman,’ a purposefully antagonising figure who demands personal replenishment through excessive care and luxury, mirroring the Earth’s exploitation and the ways it is ‘screaming’ (through natural disaster) to be replenished. By working with hyper-feminine aesthetics and contrasting natural materials, I aim to critique the villainization of the ‘selfish woman’ who becomes a reflection for earths need for care and attention once resource has run dry. I pose the question, ‘What if the earth was a beautiful woman, would those with power feel compelled to lavish her with gifts of replenishment?’

This research will involve iterative making processes where the conceptual development and material exploration inform one another, with critical reflection guiding the evolution of both my artistic language and theoretical framework.
